He was among the first psychologists awarded the Diploma recognizing board certification in Police and Public Safety Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). There are fewer than 90 psychologists recognized in the United States for having the proficiency and competence to achieve board certification.
Dr. Curran has been an active member in professional police organizations and a member, as well as Past-Chair, of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Police Psychological Services Section. He has presented at the FBI Academy, International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conferences, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and other professional psychological organizations.
